| THE FARM AND OUR PHILOSOPHY |
|
Over the years, we have completely modified farming techniques, to search for an eco-compatible form of agriculture capable of making good use of traditions whilst opening up to technological innovation.
|
 |
Maintaining the harmony of an ecosystem, without using chemicals, means preserving biodiversity that is essential for environmental-friendly farming.
|
|
With the trademark "La Lepre Bianca" we manage 44 hectares of orchards and vineyards on an organic and certified basis.
5 hectares of the farm’s land consist of woods to be intended as ecological corridors for the life of insects and fauna that maintain the conditions of equilibrium needed for the orchard and ecosystem in general.
La Lepre Bianca is a renowned open / educational farm.
The Farm has been awarded the Oscar Green 2006 for the category "environmental concern and sustainability". |

| OUR PRODUCTS |

The soil is ideal for growing pears.
"La Lepre Bianca" is a farming company that grows organic pears. |
|

The pears we grow - Abate, Conference, William, S. Maria, Decana – are sold with the “La Lepre Bianca” trademark to local school canteens and markets, 60% is exported in Europe.
From our 4 hectares of vineyard, we produce an organic, ICEA certified Lambrusco di Sorbara DOC |

We offer our guests honey, preserves, wine, fruit juices, blackberries and other products, all organic.
|

| OUR COURSES |
Our activities include courses, such as:
“Norcineria” (namely the art of making sausage): two days spent together preparing and tasting sausage and other pork-based products.
When: November, December, January.
Cost per person: 400,00 including course, board and lodging, shuttle and the products you prepare.

“the art of making bread and pizza”: we will bake bread in the old wood-fired oven to rediscover the traditional shapes of “Ferrarese” bread.
Cost per person 200,00 Euro, including full board from the day before the course.

The old stable that has been recently refurbished is used to welcome our guests and as “classroom” for schools.

| Courses for schools:
• What is organic agriculture.
•Let’s take a look at a beehive and follow bees as they see to their daily work; let’s make beeswax candles.
|

• Let’s make friends with orchard insects in the classroom and out in the countryside.
• Getting to know birds and how important they are. Let’s help them by building a birdfeeder and artificial nests.
• Appreciating the countryside: green grass and hedges are a treasure-house of biodiversity. Let’s transplant trees and bushes using the material we can find in the country.
• Let’s make friends with farm animals.
• Let’s bake bread in the old wood-fired oven.

| THE PROTECTED AREA AND WILD ANIMALS |
|
|
In our garden you will find pets, rabbits, chicken and other courtyard animals, whereas in the orchard, which is a protected area where hunting is prohibited, you will find foxes, hares, pheasants, blue tits, little owls, barn owls and other animals living in the environmental recovery areas with humid zones and hedges.. |
